Matthew is a project funded by the European Social Fund and Church Schools Children’s Fund. The project is based on the Matthew effect concept, referring to the idea that, in reading and other areas of life, he rich get richer and the poor get poorer. When children fail to acquire basic skills in reading, numeracy, fine motor skills and emotional regulation they begin to dislike school resulting in demotivation and poor academic achievement.
The learning gaps and needs of vulnerable children were addressed through various activities and resources financed by the Matthew’s project. Additionally, the project provided upskilling opportunities for educators, chaplains and psychosocial teams supporting the school communities. The Matthew ESF 02.153 positive results’ testimonials were shared with the Heads of School on the 20th of June at the Valletta Design Cluster.
