The Dyslexia Support Service is a front-line service provider which collaborates with teachers and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) with the aim of implementing a child-centred pedagogy while providing support and intervention to dyslexic students.
Aims of the Dyslexia Support Services:
- To provide educators with information about dyslexia including recommended pedagogical approaches and necessary accommodations for individuals with dyslexia
- To disseminate and share best practice to class teachers, complementary teachers, and LSEs for effective teaching and learning.
- To support parents of dyslexic students in providing the appropriate support at home as a continuation of the work being undertaken by the educators at school.
- To promote dyslexia-friendly schools.
- To provide dyslexia screening, to gauge whether the difficulties may be due to an underlying nature reflective of a dyslexia profile.
- To collaborate with SFCE Literacy Support Teachers and other staff to help schools provide inclusive support for all learners in developing reading and writing skills.
