A Photon robot was recently donated to the Digital Literacy and Transversal Skills team (within the Curriculum Entitlement Department) by IEEE Malta Section and the IEEE Computer Society, through Dr Conrad Attard, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta and Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Malta, in collaboration with Forestals https://forestals.com/photon/
This donation was made in recognition of our team’s work with teachers in Church schools helping students access STEM learning opportunities and exposure to the latest technology. Our HoDs are very excited to integrate this robot at different grade levels and across various subjects and STEM themes. Photon can also be used for playing games which teach mathematical concepts, helping students understand the correlation between the results and their operations. The Curriculum Entitlement Department thanks IEEE Malta Section for their collaboration with Church schools. IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity and contributes at school level by organising initiatives that enhance knowledge sharing on understanding of engineering and technological advancements. The IEEE R8 Robot Championship which will be held on the 23rd and 24th November aims to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and it will focus on STEM communication, entrepreneurship, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork-https://www.um.edu.mt/newspoint/events/um/2024/11/ieee-region-international-robot-championships
