Testimonial – Job Shadowing in Slovakia

Participating in the Erasmus+ job shadowing experience was an incredibly enriching opportunity that broadened my professional perspective. Observing innovative teaching methods in literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional education provided valuable insights into child-centred learning approaches. The exposure to the Hejny Method and Elkonin Approach deepened my understanding of structured, interactive learning, while classroom observations highlighted the importance of play, sensory activities, and experiential learning in early education. A key takeaway was the minimal use of technology in classrooms, with a strong emphasis on hands-on strategies to enhance learning. Students engaged in practical, movement-based
activities, which encouraged deeper understanding and active participation. The importance of changing seating positions was also evident, with flexible arrangements allowing children to remain engaged and focused throughout lessons. This approach contributed to the higher levels of attention and concentration observed in classrooms. Workshops on Morning Circle, ClassWise, and the Ropratem Programme further enhanced my knowledge of inclusive and engaging teaching strategies. This experience has strengthened my ability to apply developmentally appropriate interventions as a school-based occupational therapist, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with international educators and bring back valuable insights to create more effective and engaging learning environments.
