E-twinning seminar for the teachers of French

E-twinning seminar for the teachers of French : “Enseigner autrement avec e-Twinning”

Two teachers of French Ms Denise Zammit (St Augustine College) and Ms Heidi Domancich (St Theresa College) together with the HOD of French Ms Prascovia Deidun from the Secretariat for Catholic Education took part in the eTwinning seminar “Enseigner autrement avec e-Twinning” which was held between Friday 15th and Sunday 17th November in Toulouse. The aim of such a seminar was to discover eTwinning and how to launch eTwinning projects as well as to find partners from other countries favourably disposed for the proposed collaboration.

The French eTwinning organizers, Mr Anthony Riou and Mr Sylvain Perque gave an overview of the benefits of getting involved in such pedagogical projects and outlined the different opportunities that are offered to European students via eTwinning. Specific language projects were shared by Mr Emmanuel Prevost (eTwinning Ambassador) and Ms Hayfa Madjoub so as to encourage new participants embark on new projects. Here is firsthand experience feedback recounted by the three participants:

Participant 1: Prascovia Deidun

It was a very enriching and fruitful experience since I acquainted new inspirational educators from all over Europe with whom I merged views and ideas so as to create a new educational project where students will be broadening their cultural horizons and developing their digital, linguistic and social skills. Our new eTwinning project of which I am the founder, is entitled MABB Culture. It is called MABB since in this project, four different countries will be collaborating: Malta, Germany, Belgium and Bulgaria. We targeted SDG 11.4 which addresses the need for bigger efforts to protect the world’s cultural and natural heritage. The aim of this project is in fact to promote culture and traditions of each country and above all, respect for cultural diversity.

Participant 2: Denise Zammit

For me, it was an intensive and enriching experience. I enjoyed the complete immersion in the French ambiance. Being able to exchange views with other teachers of French from different countries, was a great asset of this seminar. Together with a colleague from Belgium and another one from Germany, I registered a new project entitled, ‘Le Petit Gourmand’ where the main theme will focus on gastronomy.

Participant 3: Heidi Bezzina Domancich

For me, it was a wonderful and enriching learning experience with other French teachers who come from different European countries in the beautiful city of Toulouse. Together with a colleague from Sweden and another colleague from Germany, I am participating in a new project called, ‘L’Europe, c’est nous!’ Our primary objective is to enhance the French linguistic and spoken competencies of our students, where we will tackle the theme, ‘La vie quotidienne des jeunes.’ We will compare and contrast different daily routines and pastimes of students coming from different European countries.
