Maria Cristina Caruana Experience

Job shadowing at ‘Casa Dei Bambini – Montessori’ was an enriching experience where I gained an understanding of the Montessori Method when observing students aged 3-6. I observed how children learn and develop in a child-friendly space. They are independent human beings who are creative, explore and move freely through their self-learning skills with the guidance of their educators as well as resources. It is very interesting to see the students develop life skills in a calm but self-correcting environment. The school itself is calm and welcoming to all who set foot in its doors.

The activities, that students actively participate in, are structured in a way to further their development. I have observed that these activities also link together in a continuous and purposeful manner and result in life-long learning. Students gain a sense of
responsibility in a curious environment where the children are given vitality and importance. This was also observed in the Primary school music lessons where they sang, played instruments and moved to the music. All this is done in a practical and positive way.

Thank you for such an educational experience. Such experiences also allow us, educators, to deepen our own learning.
