Global Compact for Education seminar

The Curriculum, Literacy and Numeracy teams, together with their Service Managers, met up at the Valletta Design Cluster to explore how Pope’s Francis’ Global Compact for Education and their work at the service of Church schools are aligned. They were responding to the call made by the Delegate for Catholic Education, Fr Charles Mallia, and the Director for Curriculum and Standards within the SfCE, Dr Ian Mifsud, after the viewing of the film ‘Francesco’, to reflect on the Pope’s teachings and respond according to their respective roles.

Sr Alexandra Chircop, Service Manager for Pastoral Care, gave a comprehensive overview of the Pope’s teaching in this regard and then the educators worked in groups on various aspects among which ‘Economics and Politics in the Service of Humanity’, ‘Safeguarding our common home’ and ‘The Role of the Family in Education’.

The groups of educators then came forward with their suggestions on how we could collectively contribute to this global compact. The educators look forward to discussing further and implementing various actions they proposed.
