Enhancing Team Dynamics project

Enhancing Team Dynamics is one of the projects the Church Schools Children’s Fund (CSCF) embarked on in 2022.  The focus was on volunteers and supporting professionals providing services in church schools. This project is substantially funded by Training Initiative Scheme offered by the Malta Council for Voluntary Sector and co-funded by the Secretariat for Catholic Education.

CSCF collaborated with PsyPotential to work with the identified supporting professionals individually and collaboratively. During the process, some of the SFCE management members and the CSCF lead volunteers were provided with training focused on Enhancing Team Dynamics from management perspective.

Here are some of the attendees’ testimonials.

Paul Cutajar – Counsellor and Team Leader for Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Play Therapists

“The training received was an eye opener and very informative.  I appreciated the feedback that Dr Elaine gave on the outcome of the individual sessions carried out with the various team members. Equally important was her theoretical input, elaborating on more effective management styles, in response to the issues that emerged from the feedback by the team members”.

Anna Lisa – Service Manager Human Resources, Finance & Administration

“Unfortunately, as a management team, we rarely have enough time to review team dynamics regularly, let alone working together to improve them. This training experience gave me the opportunity to reflect on how effective team dynamics should look like, how we can improve our teams’ communication, reduce conflicts and bring out the best out of all our employees. The time spent in improving these dynamics can not only help us build a thriving company culture but also improve our employees’ happiness and productivity. Resolving issues and workplace conflict would ultimately be a win-win solution for all”.

Liza Padovani – Principal Psychologist & Team Leader for Psychological Services, Autism Support Team and Anti-Bullying Team

“The management meeting with Elaine Dutton gave us the opportunity to reflect on the journey that brought us to the current positions we hold, allowing us to reflect on what motivates us to do the job we do, besides offering us another opportunity to get to know our colleagues. It also offered us an opportunity to reflect on how our team is functioning and how challenges within the teams are managed. With Elaine, we discussed how we perceive, understand and manage challenges within the team and we were invited to look at new approaches in our management styles in particular with regards to conflict management and resolution. It was truly a fruitful and insightful morning”.
