Digital Literacy

Our role is to inspire and guide a school community that nurtures a digital literate environment, shifting towards student-centred learning involving hands-on practices. This will aid in integrating technology and teaching practices that will help our students develop 21^st Century competences including critical thinking, creativity, computational-thinking, communication and collaboration to become responsible digital citizens.

As part of the Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship: A Development Programme for Educators accredited training course offered by JA Malta and HSBC Malta, the Digital Literacy within SfCE conducted an engaging financial literacy activity aimed at helping 6-7 year old students develop essential skills related to money, currencies, prices, purchases and payments. Through fun and interactive experiences, students learned about different forms of money, recognising coins and banknotes, understanding value, comparing prices and checking change correctly.

The session included:
📱 A digital shopping game using tablets
🛒 A price comparison activity using supermarket magazines
📚 A book sale organised by the students

Proceeds from the book sale contributed towards a charitable initiative currently supported by the school for Puttinu Cares.

The team would like to express their gratitude to St Benild Sliema, Stella Maris College for hosting us, the assistant heads of school, the educators and the LSEs who provided invaluable support in facilitating the sessions.
