Our role is to inspire and guide a school community that nurtures a digital literate environment, shifting towards student-centred learning involving hands-on practices. This will aid in integrating technology and teaching practices that will help our students develop 21^st Century competences including critical thinking, creativity, computational-thinking, communication and collaboration to become responsible digital citizens.

🤖 EU Code Week 2026 Launch with Church Schools Senior Leadership Teams 💻

On 6th October, the Digital Literacy team within the Secretariat for Catholic Education, in collaboration with EU Code Week Malta, Malta Digital Innovation Authority , DDLTS – Directorate for Digital Literacy & Transversal Skills, and Malta Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge (University of Malta), hosted an online EU Code Week meeting for Church School Senior Leadership Teams.
The session opened with an introduction by Ms Angela Charles, Director for Curriculum Entitlement within SfCE, followed by presentations from Dr Diane Vassallo, Mr Thomas Abela and Mr James Callus. The meeting concluded with the sharing of good practices, highlighting practical ways of integrating coding and computational thinking into teaching and learning.
The session reinforced the shared understanding that coding and computational thinking are essential components of holistic education, nurturing problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking and digital literacy, while equipping learners with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital world.
