The SfCE Physics Department was chosen locally for this innovative project that enabled the spaceEU project to be disseminated to schools. A number of online meetings were held to identify what was being done in different countries on this and Malta’s contribution was selected for presentation for the final event around Europe. Due to the pandemic this was held online.

In this project, Malta showcased how space education was given importance in teacher training, within primary and secondary schools through the STEM@UoM project with the University of Malta over the duration of this project. Events run during World Space Week Malta Event also featured as it is directly linked to this theme and aims to bring to it the forefront with the public and the schools alike through the involvement and support of different local NGOs.

]]> Teacher Training on ‘Scientix and STEM Careers’ https://www.csm.edu.mt/teacher-training-on-scientix-and-stem-careers/ Mon, 31 May 2021 06:33:51 +0000 https://www.csm.edu.mt/?p=4711 Read more]]> As part of the ongoing professional development by the Physics department, teachers in Church schools were offered training on the Scientix website for resources relevant to Physics teaching. Furthermore they were made aware of new STEM careers by Transport Malta locally to be able to inform about the students whom they teach. This training was then followed by a tour of the Faculty of Science labs at the University Campus to meet local researchers and learn on current research and about the different branches of specialisation in Physics at the University of Malta today. The latter empowered teachers to become aware of the new opportunities locally, especially in relation to new undergraduate courses, to be able to disseminate the information within the schools where they teach.
